re 15 year old Ami Ortiz

Dear Friends, the following is a report from Pastor David and Leah Ortiz, the Parents of 15 year old Ami Ortiz who suffered severe injuries when from a bomb sent to his home disguised as a Purim Holiday package and exploded upon opening. I met David and Leah last week and was deeply moved by their testimony. A special thanks to those who sent hundreds of 'get-well' cards and letters of support and love to Ami and his family. I understand that his Mom reads these letters everyday to Ami. I know that this has been a tremendous encouragement to Ami and his family.

Shalom and blessings,
Richard and Yardena Frieden

Ami Update

May 6, 2008

We checked out of the Schneider Children's hospital, last week after a six-week stay, 8 days in the ICU and the rest on the children's floor. Ami received excellent care from the doctors and nurses in that hospital, but in response to prayer from the four corners of the earth Ami has been healing at a rate that is extraordinary. The plastic surgeon that worked on Ami said that in his 15 years of experience he had never seen such extensive wounds. He said he has at least one hundred pieces of shrapnel in his body from his head to his feet which his body is slowly bringing up under the surface of the skin which will come out by themselves.

Thank God Ami was admitted today into a rehabilitation program in Tel HaShomer hospital. It is the hospital where terror attack victim's are treated, and also soldiers wounded in battle, so they are very experienced with the multiple injuries Ami has.

In the meantime, we had a week hiatus at home. We enjoyed living a more normal life for at least a week, and readjusting to new realities. I, Leah, have learned to change Ami's bandages and so I see improvement everyday and I see areas of skin that were wounded before that are completely back to normal. We have much hope and at the same time need much patience, as that is one very big lesson that we are learning through this ordeal. The Lord is very faithful to give His promises. From the very beginning He assured us that there had been a decision made in Heaven that we might not understand now, but that Ami would be fine and that He would use this for His glory. The working out of it has been painful for everyone especially Ami, and we have found that we have need to stand in faith that His promises will come to pass. As it is written in, Joshua 21:45,

Not a word failed of any good thing that the Lord had spoken to the House of Israel. All came to pass.

Prayer Points:

Please pray for complete restoration of the use of Ami's hands and arms.
Please pray for healing of all burns and scars on his body.
Please pray for continued emotional and spiritual healing for Ami and for the family.
Please pray for Ami's siblings that they would all draw closer to the Lord through this experience. Please pray for the police investigation and that the one's responsible for this would be brought to justice.

The devil is defeated

Subject: Family Situation

Gang, it is with a hopeful and prayerful heart that I am writing this email. A few of you know already what Jennifer and I are going through this week so here’s the update and the news for those that don’t know. Our fears were confirmed with an actual biopsy yesterday that my wife and soul mate Jennifer, has breast cancer. We don’t know the details at this point other than we have been advised that aggressive treatment will be needed. We go back to the doctor today at 3:30 to put together our plan of attack to fight this demon. We are both saved by our lord Jesus Christ so we know this is not of God but of our enemy and we are treating it as such. We hold firm to God’s word that says “all things work together for the good of those that believe” and will continue to do so until his glory is made manifest to us in this situation. We also know that many, if not all of you are believers as well and we are asking for your fervent prayers while we fight this fight. I realize that email is not the best way to deliver this type of news and I apologize for that but please understand that I’m not yet ready to begin to talk about it directly until we have had some time to take inventory of the situation. I fully expect to be out of commission for a short period and will talk directly ASAP with those of you that I may need some help from concerning my up and coming team in Raleigh, NC. We have scheduled a lunch and learn there for Wednesday of next week and I’m not sure at this point if I’ll be able to go to that event or not and that may be the first place I need some help. I have not spoken to anyone on the team other than you all as Branch Managers but we are not going to try to keep this a secret. We fully intend to expose it and it’s source for the shameful, rotten, defeated scoundrel that he is and the more believers that we have praying for us the better we know that we will be. I will address those issues with my direct base shop as soon as I work out a support system with Tom and a few of you that are willing to lend a hand for a short period of time. Please know this. We are so grateful to have outstanding people like you all as our team leaders and that gives us more comfort at a time like this than you may ever know. Jennifer and I think of you all as family and we hope you feel the same about us which is why I wanted to get this off my heart today.

"Please pray for our daughter"

Below is an email exchange I had with a missionary family this week:

Dear Cathy,

I saw this prayer & testimony site after reading about the Ortiz family in Israel. My husband and I are missionaries in the Philippines but came back to the states in March. We were scheduled for furlough this year, but just before we were to return, our 24 year old daughter attempted suicide. Please pray for our daughter Monica, for God's will to be accomplished in her life. At this time she is not walking with the Lord. Thank you for praying with us.

In His grace and love,

Sherry

--- end ---

Oh Sherry, bless your heart - how painful for you and your family! PRAISE JESUS your daughter was not successful in her attempt. May the Lord heal her heart as she comes to realize what a blessing she truly is not only to her heavenly Father but also to her family and friends I pray in Jesus name.

One thing that has helped me when struggling with mental torment is reading aloud 'who I am in Christ' - click here to read/print out.

Being a single parent for years and now grandmother to 3, the Lord has been my continued source of strength. 2002-2005 I lived in Berlin, Germany, as a missionary. For various reasons I am now back and the mission field for me is here in northern California. The Lord Jesus Christ is faithfully guiding us each day every step of the way - HALLELUJAH!

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Do you want me to post your email on the blog?

blessings,
Cathy

--- end ---

Dear Cathy,

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I would greatly appreciate it if you would post a prayer request for our daughter. We covet all prayers at this time. Her greatest need right now is to be in a right relationship with God. The verse you sent (Isaiah 26:3) is the very verse God gave me during this time. I am standing on His promises. Thank you also for sending the "who I am in Christ". I have downloaded it and am going over all the verses. : ) May the Lord bless you Cathy for your encouragement and for helping post this prayer request for us.

by His grace and love,

Sherry & Lloyd

--- end ---

Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for Monica and plead the blood of Jesus over her right now. We come against any attack of the enemy on her through the power of the cross and we ask that You cancel any curse that may have been put on her. Lord, may faith rise up in our hearts. We repent of doubt, fear, worry, unbelief, disobedience and any other sin the Holy Spirit convicts us of in Jesus name. Bless this young woman and her family we pray. Thank You that we overcome the accuser of our brethren by the blood of the Lamb, by the word of our testimony and we love not our lives unto the death. May you, Lord Jesus, be glorified in all things we pray - amen!

Please heal Ammi, Lord Jesus

Received this email today:

Dear Friends,

David and Leah Ortiz' 15 year old son, Ammi, (Hebrew for 'My People') was critically injured by a booby-trapped Purim basket on Thursday afternoon. (See attached articles from Jerusalem Post and Ynet). Police are saying that it was the work of religious fanatical 'Anti-Jewish Believers'. David and Leah are Leaders of Ariel Messianic Congregation in Ariel, Israel.

Ammi was rushed to Beilinson hospital where he underwent surgery for at least 7 hours. Please pray for the Lord to preserve his life and to heal him.

Please remember David and Leah and their other 5 children at this extremely difficult time. They ask that the prayer request be circulated as widely as possible, believing that the Lord will answer the prayers of His people.

Family of American-Israeli Pastor Targeted in Bomb Attack

source

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Jewish or Muslim extremists may be behind the bomb blast that wounded the 15-year-old son of a prominent Israeli-American Christian pastor here on Thursday evening, media reports said on Friday. The boy was seriously wounded by shrapnel when he opened a package -- disguised as a gift basket -- delivered to the family's home. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the bomb blast, at the home of the boy's parents David and Leah Ortiz, is considered a criminal act, but he added that all possibilities are being considered. The Ortizes, who are dual Israeli-American citizens, are well known in their West Bank community of Ariel where they have lived for more than 10 years. Leah Ortiz and her children are Messianic Jews -- Jews who believe that Jesus is their promised Messiah -- something that infuriates some religious Jews. "Messianic Jews suffer a lot of harassment and other types of violence -- burning down meeting places, pestering [us] at home, the publishing of announcements featuring our pictures and more," a family friend named Roni was quoted as telling the Israeli internet site YNET. Caleb Meyers, a local attorney, was quoted as saying that there is a "campaign of harassment against the Messianic Jewish community by radical religious organizations that are trying to create dehumanization -- especially in religious newspapers." There are about 15,000 people in the Messianic Jewish community in Israel. David Ortiz has been threatened many times in the past, including by a Muslim preacher during a Friday sermon on the Temple Mount several years ago. He works primarily in the West Bank with Palestinians, telling Muslims about Jesus. Some of those who become Christian come under severe persecution in the Palestinian Authority areas.

Israeli pastor's son injured by parcel bomb
Mar 21, '08 4:31 AM

On 20th March, the day before the Jewish festival of Purim, David Ortiz, the pastor of a Messianic Jewish congregation in Ariel, Israel, received a powerful parcel-bomb. His fifteen year old son Ami opened the parcel, which a source in Ariel said appeared to be a Purim basket full of goodies of the kind Jewish people traditionally send to each other at Purim. The bomb exploded, shaking the whole apartment, shattering all the windows and damaging two cars parked in the street. Ami was rushed to hospital with serious burns to his head and neck, and shrapnel buried in his back and neck. Early reports suggest that Ami may have lost an arm. Ami was a keen basketball player and very popular in Ariel. His family, however, is very unpopular because they are Messianic Jews.

The Israeli press has reported the parcel bomb. Ynet quotes suggestions the bomb may have been the work of "a cult", while The Jerusalem Post says the police have not ruled out the possibility that the blast was a "terror attack". None have opted for the most obvious suspects: Orthodox Jewish anti-missionaries, who have a long and violent track record of opposition to Messianic Jews and Christian missionaries. This latest attack on Jewish believers ought to send a clear message to the Israeli authorities that they can no longer continue to allow the routine harassment of and hysterical demonization of Israeli Messianic Jews by the Orthodox.

Call to awake to Missionary menace at Purim

The ever-present and increasing danger of the mission was addressed by a leading rabbi before Purim, who called the religious public to "awake and pray on the Fast of Esther [the day before Purim] in the face of the decree of destruction [apostasy] and the growth of the mission" (HaModia, February 28). According to the report, the missionary threat is posed not only by its extension to all the cities in the country but also because the missionaries "disguise themselves as Jews, even as Orthodox" and thus deceive and capture many Jewish souls. 3/21/08 UPDATE:

Received this email today:

Hello Everyone,

Great news. My Aunt Pat sent an update on Collin and sound like God has been listening to all of your prayers. Thank you so much for your caring prayer support.

All I can say is Praise God for His loving kindness. I am so excited about these answers. I will continue to pray until the surgery is over so I will let you all know how he comes through.

Love, Julie

The following is the email from my Aunt:

I did not mention the detail of my cousin Scott and his ex-wife Jill (Collin's Mom) have been divorced and fighting a custody battle over him. Aunt Pat mentions the second prayer answered in the second answer.

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE PRAYERS, TWO HAVE BEEN ANSWERED.......

#1. THE THIRD OPINION IS FROM A DOCTOR WHO HAS BEEN DOING THESE SURGERIES FOR 21 YEARS AND REFERS TO THEM AS ROUTINE AND COMMON. HE SAYS HE CAN CLEAN IT OUT WITHOUT DISTURBING THE TEETH, OR CAUSING THE NUMBNESS. HE ALSO SAYS HE DOSEN'T BELIEVE HE WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE JAW EVEN IF IT IS CANCER..........THANK YOU FOR ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS MY LOVED ONES.

#2. I ASKED MY PASTER TO PRAY FOR THE SOFTENING OF THE HEARTS AND THE GIFT OF PEACE BETWEEN THE TWO FAMILIES. THIS MORNING WHEN I CHECKED MY EMAIL JILL' EMAILED ME AT 3:00 A.M. (APPARENTLY SHE COULDN'T SLEEP) SHE
APPOLOGIZED TO ME AND ASKED THAT THE TWO FAMILIES GIVE COLLIN THE GIFT OF PEACE...........THANKS BE TO GOD.

3/20/08 UPDATE:

Hello Everyone,

As I was getting information last night concerning Collin, I did not get all the facts right. So here is an email that I received with better details. So please continue to keep praying for Collin as this is not an easy thing for a little boy to be going through.

I will send a picture of him as I receive one via email. The picture will possibly be one not so recent. But at least you will have a face with his na me .

Thank you all very much for your prayers as many of you have responded already that your prayers are going up for Collin.

The Lord hears your prayers and may God give you strength as you pray for Collin.

Love, Julie

There seems to be so me confusion in the communication concerning Collin's condition. He does have two tumors wrapped around a nerve that goes to the brain. They have to be removed whether they are malignant or not. Best case scenario, they remove the tumors and have to cut the nerve to the brain. The result, in all probability, will be permanent numbness of his cheek and lips.

If the tumors (either one or both) are malignant, they may have to remove his jaw bone. (Don't know how that got confused with the chin but that's what Patty told me.)

He's having more tests this week and then going to a third specialist before surgery is scheduled.

Such a beautiful little boy - both inside and outside - with one of the most loving Fathers I have ever known. I'll try to locate those pictures and send them to you.

Prayer definitely is in order.

Love ya

ORIGINAL POST

My friend Julie who lives in the Atlanta area sent this email today:

A prayer request to all my family and friends,

My Dad called me this evening to give me an update on my Cousin Scott’s little boy. Dad said he wanted to call me and ask me to pray and to ask everyone I know to be in prayer. My cousin’s little boy’s name is Collin. He is around 9 or 10. Collin has a tumor on his chin and they are going a third ti me as of tomorrow March 20th to get another opinion. As of now it looks as though Collin is going to have to have surgery. They said that the surgery could cause the left side of his face to become paralyzed for the rest of his life due to the tumor being intertwined in so me nerves. Or he may end up needing to have his chin removed.

So pleeeease pray for Collin.

Thank you in advance and I will keep you all posted in the outco me .

Sincerely,

Julie

Update on the Cheryl Dunlap case

Please continue to pray for Cheryl's family.

Death Penalty Sought For Gary Hilton in Florida Hiker Murder

Atlanta, GA 2/29/2008 07:47 PM GMT

Prosecutors in Florida are seeking the death penalty for Gary Michael Hilton who has been charged with the death of hiker Cheryl Dunlap. He was indicted on charges of murder, kidnapping, and two counts of grand theft in Dunlap’s death last year.

Hilton, 61, is already serving life in prison for the murder of Georgia hiker Meredith Emerson in January of this year. He met Emerson hiking on New Years Day. After he confessed to her murder he led police to her decapitated body in North Georgia mountains in exchange for prosecutors not seeking the death penalty. He received life in prison in Emerson’s case.

Dunlap’s body was found in a Florida national forest. No details have been released on how the 46-year-old died. Authorities say Hilton was in the area at the time of the murder as a forestry agent ran his tag through police database.

Assistant state attorney William Meggs says Hilton is “very worthy of [the] death [penalty.] Prosecutors are hoping to have Hilton moved to Florida within the next few weeks to face the charges. The investigation is on going.

Hilton is also a suspect in the death of two North Carolina hikers. John and Irene Bryant disappeared while hiking in Pisgah National Forest. Their bodies were found in the forest.

Missing Person

I just got the following email from the alumni coordinator of the Bible school I went to:
Please pray!

Dear Grads,

Cheryl Dunlap, a FIRE grad from the class of Fall 2002, has been missing since Saturday morning, December 1st. She didn't show up to teach Sunday school or for work on Monday morning. This is very unlike Cheryl and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance seem to indicate foul play. The police are involved. Please take some time to pray for supernatural protection for Cheryl and her safe return home.
Here is a link to some news coverage: http://www.wctv.tv/home/headlines/12090531.html
Cheryl's son Jake is out and on assignment with the military. Because of this, he has not yet been contacted. Pray that he would be able to draw near to God once he's been informed of the situation.

Please pray! You can check the FIRE community website under the prayer request link for updates or to post questions/comments.

Blessings,

2nd Update on Baby Promise from Emma

12/8/07 UPDATE
Thank you for your prayers from the Dunne Family

The photo is of Mount Ruapehu (Between Taumarunui and Raetihi)

Hello everyone

Just a quick update.

Promise had heart surgery on Wednesday. Steve was with her in Auckland as she endured this.

For all medical types out there:
Promise had an open PDA which has been closed now through the surgery. She was on morphine until yesterday and an epidural and all sorts of other 'wires'. She continues to require Oxygen for her 'sats' to remain at 100%. she has continuing problems with collapsed lungs (partial),
She came after 3 hours with more wires in her than either of us have ever seen. She was distressed but is now recovering well.
During the op they also did a liver biopsy. Results for this will come soon.
She remains on a vast collection of vitamins and medicine.

In spite of everything, she remains a 'fighter'.

Thankfully the operation for her heart was a success and we are gradually removing her Oxygen dependence.

She remains in Auckland Starship Hospital. Steve has now travelled home and Emma is presently being super - mum/nurse/carer with her as Steve learns to be super-dad with the remaining five children in Taumarunui.

Somehow neither of us remember this course at missionary training college!!!!!!

Thankfully Jesus is still with us in the valley. Father continues to love folks and bless people as we engage with countless other mums and dads who have sick children at Starship

A huge thank you for your prayers and support at this time. A special thank you for the food and care supplied locally by the 'secret saints'.

in the Fathers love

Update on Baby Promise

Dear Friends
Sorry again to do a circular letter but I have so little time to write.

The photos attached were taken today in Auckland.

We cannot thank you all enough for continuing to pray for our family.

Promise (our newly adopted daughter - yipeeee) is stable in Auckland Hospital. She has been on Oxygen since thursday to help clear her lungs of 'patches'.
This is to prepare her for open heart surgery this week.
Please continue to pray for her health.
We are believing God for a good operation for hole(s) in her heart.
We are believing God for healing for her many other complaints (Liver, lungs etc.....)
Thank you again for standing with us.

Promise has brought great joy and blessing to our family. Our children love her. Our church community in Taumarunui, Raetihi and around New Zealand totally love her. Along with so very many around the world who are emailing and writing your support. THANK YOU Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It is amazing how the Lord has led us into this right as we are expanding the ministry in Central plateau region in Turangi (Prison) and Raetihi and continuing in Taumarunui.

What is equally curious is all the constant theme on our hearts at the moment of the Father heart of God. He has placed such a burden for unwanted (so called unlovely) babies and children both born and pre-born; such a desire to see children housed, loved and placed in a family (our family!). All the while we are seeing God touch and infuse people with a fresh touch of the Father's love. Come on Jesus it is time for your people to swim in the ocean of your love. For this is His heart and why He came to earth to die and rise again:

"......so that he could adopt us as His very own children" (Gal 4:5b)NLT

therefore

“So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God’s very own children, adopted into his family--calling him “Father, dear Father.”” Romans 8:15, NLT.

remember Father speaking through Jeremiah the prophet:

“I thought to myself, ‘I would love to treat you as my own children!’ I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land--the finest inheritance in the world. I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father,’ and I thought you would never turn away from me again.” Jeremiah 3:19, NLT.

Isn't Father just wonderful?

Please pray for Jesus to receive maximum glory through our constant contact with health professionals, social workers, students, Child protection agencies etc......and a whole host of other folks too numerous to mention.

Thank you again for your support

Baby Promise & Lindsey

This morning, this email came from Steve Dunne:

Dear Praying friends

Once again sorry for filling your email boxes but we really are facing a battle for the life of our daughter PROMISE. She travelled with Emma and Isaac to Auckland (4 hours) today for a routine Cardiology appointment. The hole(s) in her heart are bigger than we thought. Doctors want to do open heart surgery tomorrow. They are unable as Promise still has 'patches' on her lungs making her too sick for surgery.

Let us begin to pray for healing. For the presence and power of the healing touch of God to be on her life...to make her well.

She is presently in A&E with breathing complications in Auckland. We are asking for a surge of prayer to touch the throne of grace today on her behalf.

Thank you for standing with us

your friends

UPDATE...
Just received from Doug and Carol Patterson this prayer request for a 3 yr old:

It was discovered last night that Neil Adam's daughter, Lindsey (3 yrs old) lost sight in one of her eyes. After testing today at the Andrews Institute - Baptist Hospital Gulf Breeze, doctors have suggested that it may be cancer in the eye. They have asked to send her to specialist in Miami. The news has hit their family like a bomb. They are asking for prayer as they decide what to do.

God is in Control and we can totally trust Him in all things by His grace and for His glory through His Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ!

YES, LORD JESUS...
We lift these precious children up to You and ask for a divine touch - they both need a miracle! Thank You Lord that by your stripes we are healed and you sent your word and healed our diseases. May nothing stop your perfect will in each of our lives. Amen!

New place to live, or favor with our current landlord

Well “finding a new place to live” might not sound like it requires much prayer, but my Dutch room mate and I need either favor with the group that owns our apartment or the favor of God and man finding a new place to live.

We already live where we do by a miracle, and have been told repeatedly it’s impossible to find something this cheap in Rotterdam, and that we’ve been lucky. As a student Joel could find somewhere else to live real easily, but to find an apartment or house in this city, takes time and the waiting list is long. We have to be out of here by November, and that is NOT typically enough time to find our way to the top of a waiting list for an apartment in the city. I know people who it’s taken a year to get an apartment. The fact neither one of us has good “income” (he is now a student), and the fact we’re not a family or married couple makes it really slim chance we’ll be considered ahead of someone who meets the criteria. So tonight, we will already have spoken to the one who decides, and since our apartment is supposed to be temporary for those people off the streets or some kind of transition in their lives, and basically us staying here for the remainder of our year on the lease really doesn’t help our case for being able to stay another year or anything.

We need favor, so please pray because I have enough to do with my responsibilities and Joel with starting school again that we don’t have the time to really search and search for somewhere to live, and the dumpiest apartments are easily twice what we pay now, so we need a breakthrough.

Youth Worker Winkie Pratney's Health Improving—although More Surgery is Needed

"Winkie's condition is stabilizing...thank you everybody for your prayers, they really are making a difference."

Michael Ireland/AH (April 6th, 2007)

Youth speaker Winkie Pratney's condition at a hospital in South Korea is improving, according to Shane Anderson, who is updating Pratney's web-blog.

However, another surgery is needed to remove fluid surrounding his lungs. Winkie's son, William Pratney, wrote an update on his father's condition, on the ministry's blog.

Dad is undergoing another surgery today: he will have the fluid drained out which they found was surrounding his lungs (not actually in his lungs). They will insert two tubes to drain the fluid out. Complications can include a hemotoma (blood clot). And Dave, I don't have to tell you, we don't need any complications right now. Dr. Lim says, if there's one more complication, he doesn't have a great chance of survival. Please ask everyone to keep praying. He is in another drug-induced coma at the moment, with a fever and high heart rate. Mom, Trevor and I met with Dr. Lim and Dr. Han (the doctor that performed the transverse colon operation).

The veteran youth worker's condition improved quite a bit, in the last couple days, according to an ANS article yesterday, which included an update by Shane Anderson that read...

"Winkie's condition is stabilizing: his kidney and his liver are beginning to function normally. He's still on the dialysis machine (and) they still want to give him a little bit of help there. And so thank you everybody for your prayers, they really are making a difference."

Anderson said Winkie, "was in a very bad place twenty-four hours ago—today (Thursday) his chances are much, much improved. And I really think that we have the prayers of God's people crying out to the throne for that. Thank you."

Anderson reportedly told his radio audience that as he was praying with his wife last night, "I thought there's tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands, perhaps even into the millions of people praying (and that's) the wonderful thing with the internet is that people all over the world have been praying for Winkie."

Anderson said that his e-mail box "is literally flooded with pastors from all over the globe saying that they had called their churches to pray."

"Some of the large massive churches in South Korea are even calling entire churches to pray. It's just a sign of how much of a servant Winkie has been to The Lord's Church for so long," he said.
Shane Anderson, who is maintaining the updates on Winkie, had this to say in closing:

Winkie needs our prayers like never before. There has been improvement, yes, but there's still more surgery required, and he's still in a critical condition. I am sure though that you can feel this rising-up of faith stirring your spirit to intercede. Keep praying. Fast if you are able. We love you and thank you for your devotion and your prayers.

We are requesting you to pray for Winkie Pratney,long-time international youth minister and speaker. He fell down the stairs in New Zealand and broke arib. He flew on to S. Korea to speak anyway. Butwhen he got there he had to be admitted to thehospital. Apparently when he fell and broke the rib,the rib punctured his intestines and who knows whatother organs. Now peritonitis has set it. Hiskidneys and bowels have shut down. The S. Koreandoctors are seriously concerned that they can losehim. So, his wife is flying in and his son also to bewith him. His body is so filled with the poison, thathe must have prayer right now. Please alert everyonewho believes to pray with us all for a miracle inWinkie’s body. This man is doing such a great work inthe Kingdom of God. We don’t want to lose him. Callothers to prayer, too! His website is linked below.

Public opening of the Firehouse cafe.

Greetings fellow revolutionaries!

This Saturday, March 24th we're having a monthly FIRE meeting at the cafe in Rotterdam, beginning at 3pm. Then at 7pm, which is of as much importance, we're having a DVD showing of "They Sold Their Souls For Rock and Roll", documenting the demonic influence behind much of contemporary music of all genres.

We've invited a few youth we minister to at the cafe on the weekends and from the local highschool we are involved in. Please pray not for a large turnout specifically in numbers, but for fruitful interaction and results from having this night. Many young people we minister to our hungry for Christ, but struggling with decisions about the influence of appropriate music in their lives.

Then, on Saturday March 31st at 7pm we're having our PUBLIC opening. Media have been invited, and some of our friends will be present, and more importantly, we're believing for some of the community we've invited to come out and see the place. So far we've been "open" but mostly having birthday parties and prayer meetings. Pray that what we're here to do as an outreach to the community will be made clear.

And of course, general prayer about the work and evangelism and discipleship in the Netherlands is ALWAYS appreciated, but those are specific points for this week.

Bedankt and tot ziens!

world leaders

I am sitting here watching George Bush talk on tv about the war on Iraq. So I'm thinking to myself, who cares? Well, we should. My request is for ALL the world leaders. That God would guide them in their decisions, even if their decisions don't effect you directly, they do someone, and I can't imagine how difficult it would be knowing how huge each one of your decisions actually was. So lets pray for them, even if we don't like them.

Marissa battling cancer.

Hello, All!

Thank you so much for praying and rallying prayer for my dear friend, Marissa who is battling cancer.

We are still believing God for a miracle for her. After intense brain radiation treatment, the doctors have put her on aggressive chemotherapy. She is very sick from that but is hanging in there. It has been a rough couple of months but her mom and her as well as her relatives, church family and friends (and many people she doesn't even know) are trusting the Lord in this difficult time.

The cancer is not contained and the doctors are hoping, while it seems like a long shot at this point, to bring all of the cancer under remission through the chemo. That's the best case scenario and that is what they are hoping to do through these treatments. Marissa has stayed optomistic (of course there are rough days) and really believes the Lord will get her through this.

Marissa and I got to spend a lot of time together when I was there and I left really encouraged by her and her mom's faith in the Lord. They are surrounded by wonderful people who are helping in so many ways. I thank God for the grace He's given, yet we're still praying for complete healing in her body.

Please pass this on! The situation is very serious. At one point, when I was up there, Marissa said that she was so tired and worn out and she felt like she couldn't "fight" this alone. I reassured her that so many people all over the world are praying. She has so many friends and people that are standing with her at this time.

With much love,
Rachel Schneier
(Attached is a pic of she and I while I was up there. This was one of the last pictures before her hair had fallen out and before chemo.)

Psalm 125:1-2 "Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore."

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF ENTERPRISE

"At least 20 people were killed when storms struck the southern United States yesterday. Eighteen people died when a tornado hit the small town of Enterprise in southern Alabama on Thursday afternoon, destroying the central section of the local high school where at least 15 died." (more)

EMAIL
Received this email this morning (March 2, 2007):

Cathy, I am requesting prayer for my hometown Enterprise, Alabama that was hit yesterday by a tornado. We still have a house there and the neighbor said she thought the back glass window (it is huge) was cracked or broken (couldn't tell from the darkness). Also one of our trees fell in her yard and did damage to her place.

John is going tomorrow to check it out. I am very troubled over it all.....For years I prayer walked over the very area that was hit the worst ( 2 blocks from our house ) and today I looked up at the clock in my bedroom and it was 11:11 AM!!! I said "Lord, what are you saying to me?" He said "Judgement is upon us!" and I know I should have fallen to my knees and prayed but didn't....I told you about all the 11's we have been seeing.....saw it alot lately and then again today and the tornado hit at 12:45PM(CST)

Share with your praying friends please...not sure how many were killed...they are saying 8.
Many believers in that area and the Lord has been moving in their lives so........Ft. Rucker is only 6 miles away...it is the helicopter training Army base in the US. So alot of military live there....

Thank you!
Donna

MY RESPONSE
May the LORD have mercy on the folks in Enterprise I pray in Jesus name!

Truly a tragedy, Donna, and I pray for open doors to share the Gospel for the believers there and for both you and John in all this.

In my blog, I have a link to the man who had a vision of hell - quite powerful. The LORD told him to tell us that Jesus was coming very, very soon and He doesn't want people to go to hell which was made for the devil and his demons.

This morning, the LORD reminded me that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom - not to fear man but rather God.

Yes, I too believe time is short.

May we "be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." (1 Peter 3:15)

I pray that the LORD Jesus Christ be glorified and may many souls be saved!

blessings & love to you both Donna,

Cathy

LOVE HOPES ALL THINGS
Please join me prayer for a couple who were seriously burned in a house fire in Baton Rouge:

LORD JESUS we come to You in FAITH asking for a healing miracle for Benson and Heather. We know that nothing is too difficult for You, LORD GOD, as we put our TRUST in You alone. We BELIEVE that you still do miracles today and this is what is needed. We pray for Your wisdom for the medical team and we ask that souls are saved of all those involved - doctors, nurses, family, friends, etc. Comfort and encourage the family, flooding their hearts with Your PEACE that passes all understanding we ask. Let faith rise up and may all fear, doubt, worry and unbelief GO NOW in JESUS name. Thank You, Father, for Your Word on which we stand and for Your Son by Whose stripes we are healed and thank You LORD that You sent Your Word and HEALED our diseases. May Your name be glorified in the midst of this tragedy and may You turn what the enemy met for evil into something good we pray in JESUS name - AMEN.

He who began a good work in you. . .

will be faithful to complete it.
Hey everyone,
God willing, I am going on a missions trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh this summer with InterVarsity/Urbana.
I've had faith that God would bring the money in for my trip, but I have also been feeling that Satan is resisting it. Sometimes worry and fear have set in, and they almost paralyze me. But this past week, I took some of the steps I knew I needed to take. Between a refund I did not expect, a yard sale, babysitting, letters I sent out, and being interviewed at my church on Sunday, God brought in more than half of what I need to go to Bangladesh this weekend alone! From having about $500 raised, I now have just over $3000 of the approximately $4000 I need.
I also saw God soften my grandparents' hearts (they were opposed to the trip and decided not to support me, but He changed their minds). My parents, too, were worried, but they have both decided to turn that fear over to God and pray with me instead.
I now have a few prayer partners, and God has brought me into contact with some missionaries at my church who want to commit to pray for me, as well as to share some of their experiences as Bible translators with me. I could go on. . .
Anyway, I thought this would be a good place to boast in what Christ Jesus has done!

My mother's broken ankle.

Hey there prayer warriors. My turn to post a request:

This afternoon I got a call at work that my mom slipped and fell on the ice in the parking lot where she was for a meeting related to her profession. She fractured it so severely, that her foot was pointing in a manner away from her and totally not how feet are designed to face!

My brother and I spent the afternoon with her in the emergency ward at Peterborough Regional Hospital, where we were by her side (or at least in the hall way) when they X-rayed it and set the foot in place more, before they were going to perform surgery.

At the time of writing this, I've gone home for a few hours, my dad is driving back in from out of town some time this evening, and she was last in the emergency ward hallway waiting for a room, and scheduled to either have surgery performed tonight or tomorrow.

Please pray for quick and swift healing. Her and my father have tickets and plans to stay in England for 3 weeks beginning late April, and were even going to visit the Netherlands for 4 days during that visit. The possibility of this trip is also now up in the air and depends on if her ankle will be healed in time.

Thank you all for praying.

prayer

I don't often ask for prayer, but this is getting... out of board..

I've been dealing with an allergy for sunfloweroil, and have been having majure stomachproblems with it. For about more than one week now i've been having these stomachproblems everyday, without eating anything with sunfloweroil. But, i have the same symptones. Reasonably thought it looks like this is something serious, like chronic (darm in Dutch) infections.
BUT: I am believing in God to heal me from this.

So... ehm. Please pray for healed stomach and digestive system.
Thank you...

Today I received this email from Faith Cyphers:

"Please post this on the website, thank you.
Please pray for my families salvation. Their names are Gary, Rich, Angel, Christa, Amanda, Alicia, Nicholas, Chase, Madyson, Wanda who has colon cancer, Donna who has inoperable lung cancer, Laura, Louanne, who has a nodule on her lung which may be cancer, Jackie and Bobby. Thank you so very much. I have many others who I love who I want saved too. Please ask the LORD not to let them die without salvation."

Yes, Lord Jesus, we ask that you touch each and every person in Faith's family and drawing them to Yourself by Your loving kindness. Please heal those that are sick and open their hearts to the Truth, putting a deep hunger within them to want to know You more. We plead the blood of Jesus over each of their souls and we thank You in advance for hearing this prayer requested in faith. Amen!

New Orleans Update:
Thanks for your prayers as most every day I get the opportunity to either share Jesus or pray for someone in this very secular campground where we are working together to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This past week, I've been asking the Lord if I am supposed to stay and yesterday, someone gave me a new tent and air mattress, so I am staying - hallelujah!

heavy-laden

Hey warriors!

Thanks for praying for Zaila -- she is now doing very well. My friend sent this letter to me earlier today. It is quite self-explanatory.

I thought it was about time I told some of you guys about what has been happening lately. It's been quite a week. This week [my boyfriend]'s dad had a heart attack and is in the hospital. Also, the next day I found out my dad is in the hospital too. He went into the hospital because of an injury he had in the barn, but he is still in there because they are checking to see things. There is a huge possibility of it being bone cancer (dad has already had prostate cancer for 8 years). It may have been that he has already had bone cancer and that now all it has taken is an injury for things to really go downhill from here. I know I am giving you a really shortened version of it all, but I hope you kind of understand.

I don't know what is going to happen, the next few days will tell more. I wish that I was sure of more things, or at least knew something definite, but I don't. It could be that my dad is dying, that is a huge possibility, but I can't make any decisions until I know more things for sure.

The reason that I am telling you this is to ask you to pray for both of us, and our families at this time. I know it's hard for me to tell people this kind of stuff, it's humbling, and also hard because I don't want to look like I'm seeking attention, or asking for sympathy. Please forgive me for not saying things sooner, I don't do it to be mean or because I don't trust you. But I don't want to make the same mistake as I did before of not telling anyone. And I know that if I was the friend, I would want to know.

So, I wish I had something more definite to say, I wish it wasn't all up in the air, but that's the way it is right now. Please pray for us. Thanks.

My Cousin Continued

Unfortunately I have to update that Zaila is currently being monitored at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, since she was born with fluid in her lungs. This should not be a serious problem, but please keep praying. . .

Lauren

*pop*

Zaila was born yesterday! So far all I know is the email I got from my cousin Erik:

Its 7 lbs and 5 oz right in the middle... her name is Zaila Grace and she popped at 4:20. Both the baby and the new mommy are doing great...

Technically this doesn't make me an aunt, but I think I still get to go by that name. . . yay! Thanks Jesus, and thank you guys for your prayers -- they are precious.

Sara and Zaila

Hey everyone,

Awesome to see the blog up and running! I have another request -- my cousin Sara is due to give birth to her first child (whom she's calling Zaila Grace) sometime in the next few days. She has had a hard time the last few years, but I love that grace is in her baby's name! Could you pray that God would help her through the emotional aspects of childbirth and her relationship with Steve, Zaila's father, and that He would keep Sara and Zaila safe and healthy? Also, that Sara would turn to Jesus for the support she needs to raise her daughter? Thanks so much for your prayers,

Lauren

Testimony #1

A couple from Amsterdam that we prayed for a year ago, because they had 5 or 6 miscarriages, now have a healthy baby!!!!!

The history
I knew this couple from 5 years ago, when I was helping with a Christmas outreach for just two weeks. Another couple was helping there also, and the woman was pregnant, but more scared than happy, because it could be her third miscarriage. well, I haven't heard from that couple ever since. Until...

The prayer
One year ago, a woman from our own church stood up and spoke out loud in the meeting that we should pray for "this couple she knew from Amsterdam that had their fifth miscarriage".
I went up to her right after the meeting and I discovered this was actually that same couple. So I said:"Let's pray right now with just the two or three of us!". We did; we proclamed LIFE over this couple. Somehow I knew something was happening right there. But you know... a year goes by whithout thinking about it, and I kind of forgot the whole story.
until...

The result
Yesterday a woman from our church said: "Elise, I've got some great news." That couple from Amsterdam that we prayed for a year ago, because they had 5 or 6 miscarriages, now have a healthy baby!!!!!
GREAT NEWS THIS IS!

Request One

Hey Bloggers :)

I have a first prayer request to start things off -- I am trying to figure out a way to go on a mission trip during my mid-semester break in February. I have this idea to go to eastern Europe and possibly work in an orphanage. I don't know if it is God or me, but I am trying to figure that out. I have two possible connections who could help me find a way to do this. Please pray that I would know and follow God's will in this. Thanks!
